Information for general practitioners

If your practice agrees to be involved, the clinic will be randomised to either a control or an intervention group. Clinics in the intervention group will be provided with a multifaceted intervention that is aimed at increasing chlamydia testing. The intervention will include computer pop-up alerts, incentive payments for each chlamydia test conducted, a comprehensive educational package, quarterly feedback on chlamydia testing rates and a patient reminder system to recall patients for future chlamydia tests. Clinics in the control group will be encouraged to test patients for chlamydia according to their usual practice. They will be provided with the intervention at the conclusion of the project.

Benefits to you from participating in the pilot include furthering your knowledge of STIs, being eligible for QA & CPD points and financial incentives. Participating in the pilot is voluntary and you may withdraw at any stage.
